Tiled terrace and pool surround at a Dubai villa

Outdoor and wet area tiling.

Outdoor tiling Dubai has three jobs: stay non-slip when wet, stay cool enough to walk on, and shed water away from the building.

Flooring · Outdoor

Outside, the tile is the least of it

An outdoor floor is a waterproofing system with a tile on top. When balconies leak into the room below or terraces lift after a couple of summers, the cause is almost always missing tanking, no falls, or no movement joints across a surface that expands in direct sun.

We tank, test, lay to fall, and use external-grade adhesive and joints designed to move. Surface selection then covers the human side: slip resistance when wet and a tone that does not become unbearable underfoot in July.

Terrace being waterproofed before tiling

What outdoor tiling covers

Terraces, balconies, pool surrounds and external stairs.

Waterproofing

External membrane with correct upstands and detailing at doors, drains and parapets, flood tested before tiling.

Falls and drainage

Screeds laid to fall toward channels or gullies so water never sits against the building.

Slip-rated surfaces

Textured porcelain and stone rated for wet barefoot areas around pools and showers.

Heat-conscious selection

Lighter tones and finishes that stay walkable in direct summer sun.

External adhesive systems

Full-coverage fixing with external-grade adhesive and grout designed for movement.

Movement joints

Perimeter and field joints across large terraces to absorb thermal expansion.

Pedestal paving

Raised systems on roof terraces where drainage and insulation sit beneath the surface.

Steps and edges

Bullnose and mitred edges, step nosings and clean junctions into planting or coping.

Outdoor surfaces in Dubai

Sun, short heavy rain and barefoot use set the specification.

Surface temperature

Dark outdoor tiles become genuinely unusable barefoot. Tone and finish are practical decisions, not just aesthetic.

Heavy short rainfall

Drainage capacity matters more than annual rainfall suggests. Missing gullies show up in the first storm.

Thermal expansion

Large sun-exposed terraces move significantly. Movement joints are essential, not optional.

Balcony leaks

Water tracking into the room below is a common defect, and it is a waterproofing failure rather than a tiling one.

How the work runs

01

Survey

Existing surface, falls, drainage and any leak history assessed.

02

Quotation

Waterproofing, screed, tile and drainage priced together.

03

Strip-out and screed

Removal, substrate repair and screeding to fall.

04

Tanking and testing

Membrane applied and flood tested before tiling.

05

Tiling and handover

Laying, jointing, sealing and drainage check.

Balcony leaking into the room below? Retiling alone will not fix it — the tanking has to be redone.
