Engineered wood flooring installation.
Engineered wood flooring Dubai installed with the details that matter here — acclimatisation, moisture testing and real expansion gaps, so boards do not cup or gap later.
Why engineered, and not solid, in Dubai
Solid timber moves considerably with humidity, and Dubai swings between humid outdoor air and heavily air-conditioned interiors. Boards cup in summer and gap in winter. Engineered construction — a hardwood wear layer over a dimensionally stable core — largely removes that movement.
The installation details still matter. Boards are acclimatised on site before laying, the substrate is moisture-tested, a barrier is used over concrete, and genuine expansion gaps are left at every perimeter and doorway. Wooden flooring Dubai failures almost always trace back to one of those four being skipped.
What timber flooring covers
Supply and installation, or installation of boards you have sourced.Substrate preparation
Levelling, moisture testing and priming, with a barrier over concrete slabs.
Acclimatisation
Boards left on site in the finished environment before laying — not opened and fitted the same morning.
Floating installation
Click-system boards over acoustic underlay, the usual choice in apartments where buildings require it.
Glue-down installation
Fully bonded to the substrate for a solid feel underfoot and better acoustics in villas.
Patterned laying
Herringbone, chevron and plank layouts set out from the room centre line.
Expansion detailing
Perimeter gaps concealed behind skirting or beading, plus thresholds at doorways and long runs.
Skirting and trims
Matching or contrasting skirting, scotia, stair nosings and transitions to tile or stone.
Repairs and refinishing
Replacing damaged boards and sanding or re-oiling floors with a thick enough wear layer.

Wood flooring questions.
Engineered wood is, indoors. It handles the humidity swings that destroy solid timber, and with a decent wear layer it can be refinished rather than replaced.
Not in bathrooms. In kitchens it is possible with prompt spill management, but many owners prefer porcelain that convincingly imitates timber in wet zones.
Floating is faster, cheaper and works with acoustic underlay in towers. Glue-down feels more solid underfoot and sounds better, and is generally preferred in villas.
Yes, if the hardwood wear layer is thick enough — usually 3mm or more allows at least one or two refinishes over its life.
Almost always moisture: either the slab was damp at installation, there is a leak, or the property has sat without air conditioning through a humid period.
