Walk-in shower with linear drain and glass screen

Walk-in showers and wet rooms.

Walk-in shower Dubai conversions done as a rebuild — new falls, linear drainage and full tanking, because a level-threshold shower has nowhere to hide a mistake.

Removing the tray means the floor has to do its job

A shower tray is a waterproof container. Take it away for a level-access wet room and the floor build-up has to do everything the tray did: contain water, direct it to the drain and never let it reach the structure.

That means re-screeding to fall across the whole shower zone, a linear or point drain set precisely at the low point, full tanking with reinforced junctions, and a flood test. Done properly it is the best solution for small bathrooms — nothing makes a compact room feel larger than removing the step and the bath.

Wet room floor being formed to fall

What a shower installation covers

Conversions and new wet rooms.

Bath removal and conversion

Taking out the bath, adapting drainage and rebuilding the floor for a shower zone.

Falls and drainage

Linear channel or point drain set at the low point with screeds formed to fall from all directions.

Tanking

Full floor and wall membrane with reinforced corners and drain detailing, flood tested.

Glass screens

Fixed panels, hinged and sliding doors in toughened glass with minimal-profile fixings.

Shower systems

Thermostatic valves, rain heads, handsets and body jets with concealed pipework.

Niches and seating

Recessed storage and built-in benches formed, tanked and tiled into the shower zone.

Level thresholds

Step-free entry where floor build-up allows, useful for accessibility as well as looks.

Ventilation

Extract sized for the room and ducted out — a wet room without it will develop mould.

Wet rooms in Dubai properties

Build-up depth and drainage position govern what is possible.

Floor build-up depth

Level access needs depth for falls. In apartments over concrete slabs it is sometimes limited, so a low threshold is used instead.

Drainage position

Existing waste position governs where the drain can sit. Moving it far is often not possible in towers.

Humidity control

A fully open wet room puts more moisture into the room. Extraction has to be sized accordingly.

Hard water on glass

Scale marks glass quickly here. Treated glass and a squeegee habit make a visible difference.
